David formerly worked in the furniture industry as an upholsterer but is now unemployed.  However, he is doing maintenance work for his church.  He has two children, Jon, 17, and Audra 12.

Jon is a Challenger Early college High School participant.  He is a straight A student and has partcipated in People to People and is on the tennis team.

Audra, attends Northview Middle School.  She is also a straight A student, plays in the band and is on the YMCA tennis team.

The whole family recently enjoyed being in Hickory Community Theatre's production of "Holes".

The family attends Mt. Olive Lutheran Church in Newton where David is the President of the Church Congregation, and is serving as the Chairman of the Properties Board.

David said he cried joyously and thanked God for the wonderful blessing when he heard he was accepted for a Habitat house.  He looks foward to being able to use more of his finances to cover future costs of education.  And Audra-she looks forward to finally being able to have a long promised cat.
